| are advancing to the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest at UT-Austin in May. |

| Congrats to the Wakeland HS Band. On Tuesday, November 3, 2009, The WHS Band competed in the |
| prestigious UIL AAAA State Marching Band Contest. After the preliminary round, |
| with 26 of Texas' finest AAAA Bands, the Wakeland Band ranked 7th overall and 1st in |
| the Marching caption. |

| Following the Finals round, the Wakeland Band earned a 4th place finish - a truly remarkable |
| performance for their debut. |

| WAKELAND HS BAND NAMED GRAND CHAMPION OF THE CENTENNIAL MARCHING FESTIVAL |
| On Saturday, October 31, the WHS Band was named Grand Champion of the Centennial |
| Marching Festival held at Frisco Memorial Stadium. Additionally, the Band won Best In Class, |
| Best Music, Best Visual Performance, Best General Effect, Best Percussion, and Best Drum Majors. |

| WAKELAND HS BAND EARNS A SPOT AT THE UIL STATE MARCHING CONTEST |
| On Saturday, October 24, the WHS Band earned a place in the prestigious UIL State Marching |
| Band Competition through their performance at UIL Area B Competition. After an early-morning |
| Prelims run, the Band ranked 2nd going into Finals competition. After Finals, the Wakeland Band |
| was invited to the UIL State Marching Band Contest to be held on Tuesday, Nov 3 in the Alamodome |
| in San Antonio, Texas. |

| Wakeland HS Band earns 4th consecutive 1st Division Marching Award. |
| On Saturday, October 17, the WHS Band earned their 4th consecutive 1st Division Marching |
| Award at the UIL Region XXIV Marching Contest held at Standridge Stadium in Carrollton. |
| The Band received a first division rating from all three judges. |

| Wakeland HS Band named Finalist and wins GE in Class at the BOA Arlington Regional. |
| On Saturday, October 9, the WHS Band placed 9th of 29 bands in Prelims at the |
| Bands of America Arlington Regional. Additionally, the Band won the General Effect caption for |
| the AAA class. After their Finals performance, the WHS Band placed 9th in overall Finals Competition. |

| Wakeland HS Band named Grand Champions of the Denton Golden Triangle Marching Contest. |
| On Saturday, October 2, the WHS Band placed First following Prelims competition at the Denton |
| Golden Triangle Marching Contest for the second consecutive year. The Band swept the following |
| captions as well: Best Music; Best Visual Performance; Best General Effect; Best Guard. |

| Congrats to the Wakeland HS Drumline. The Drumline earned a 4th place finish at the |
| Plano Drumline Contest in the Marching Division. In addition, the cymbals won Best Cymbal Line. |

| TMEA Region XXIV All-Region Jazz Ensemble with their auditions on Saturday. |
